Profibus Connectors

Profibus Connectors

Connector for PROFIBUS

Plug & Play with FastConnect in less than 30 seconds! The Siemens FastConnect connector is part of the FastConnect system from Siemens.

Extremely short mounting times with FastConnect connectors due to insulation displacement method for rigid and flexible wires.
PROFIBUS FastConnect RS 485 bus connector (90° or 180° cable outlet) with transfer rates up to 12 Mbit/s

PG connection with the FastConnect RS485 bus connector (90 cable outlet) without additional installation of network nodes
Error proof connection using FastConnect Connector:
Color coded leads for PROFIBUS conductor A, B
Transparent window for visual verification of connecting wires
Insulation displacement terminals
Only one single screw - no parts can be lost
Integrated termination resistor not only ensures a proper PROFIBUS termination (if end devices is powered up) but also ensures separation of incoming and outgoing PROFIBUS cable completely to enable fast commissioning and troubleshooting.

Note: PROFIBUS connectors with screw terminal (non FastConnect) are also available:

PROFIBUS connectors with axial cable outlet (180°) and integrated bus terminating resistor.
To connect for example PCs, SIMATIC HMI OPs to PROFIBUS.
Transmission speed up to 12 Mbit/s
PROFIBUS connector with vertical cable outlet (90°) and integrated bus terminating resistor This connector enables a vertical cable outlet (with and without PG interface) for transmission speed up to 12 Mbit/s
Bus connector with 30° cable outlet (low-cost version) without PG interface for transfer rates up to 1.5 Mbit/s and without integrated bus terminating resistor.

Fast termination with Profibus connector

Harting has introduced a shielded M-12 Profibus connector using the company's HARAX rapid termination technique. The new connector features a robust metal body for use in harsh industrial environments, and offers protection to IP67.

The HARAX technique eliminates soldering or screw terminations, allowing cables and connectors to be assembled in a fraction of the time required for conventional methods. The resulting savings in time and labour costs are particularly relevant to shielded cable installations, where the addition of a shielded braid which must provide total integrity places additional demands on the installation process.

With the HARAX rapid termination technology, the individual strands in a cable are inserted into a splicing ring and cut to length. The shield is attached to the metal housing via a sliding ring, avoiding time-intensive working steps. The individual strands are then terminated securely using insulation displacement technology with the aid of a union nut.

Installation time is typically reduced to a third of that formerly required.

In addition, the robust housing of the M12-L connector will absorb any forces and torque that may arise.

The new connector is rated at up to 32V and 4A, and is designed for use with conductor sizes from AWG24 to AWG22.
